Abde-Ali bhaisaheb's PhD Felicitation Function

Abde-Ali bhaisaheb (bin Syedi Mazoon Saheb tus) passed his viva in 2003 and was immediately granted recommendation for a doctorate by his examiners. In fact, his supervisor said that his was one of the finest theses the University of Manchester had received. The convocation for the conferment of the doctorate degree was in July 2004, for which Syedi Mazoon Saheb visited the U.K. On his return, to thank Allah and his Dai Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin tus for the great success of Abde-Ali bhaisaheb, Syedi Mazoon Saheb hosted a lunch for all college-going boys and girls of Bombay. His Excellency, the Honourable Governor of Maharashtra, Shri Mohammed Fazal also graced the occasion. The venue was Evan-e-Husaini Hall.

The Governor arrived at 11 a.m. and was received by Syedi Mazoon Saheb. Light refreshments were served and the party proceeded to the main hall, where the students and other guests were assembled. “Waza-e-fona” was recited, and the function commenced with the beautiful recitation of the Quran by Husain bhaisaheb (bin Syedi Mazoon Saheb). Then, Aziz bhaisaheb (bin Syedi Mazoon Saheb) translated the recited portion of the Quran.

Syedi Mazoon Saheb then delivered a lucid and erudite speech for about fifteen minutes, in which he exalted the philosophy of Islam regarding prayers, knowledge and wisdom, quoting the Prophet Mohammed Rasulullah (SA), Amirul Mumineen (SA) and Syedna Taher Saifuddin (RA).

His Excellency the Governor was presented with a gift by Syedi Mazoon Saheb and bouquets of flowers, and gifts were presented to Abde-Ali bhaisaheb felicitating him. Abde-Ali bhaisaheb then made a speech in which he thanked Allah, and did shukur of Dai-Zaman Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin tus and his Bawajisaheb Syedi Mazoon Saheb. Abde-Ali bhaisaheb talked about the importance of 'ilm as emphasized by Hudaat Kiram, and elaborated on a kalaam by Amirul Mumineen (SA) regarding the attainment of 'ilm (View / Download Speech).

His Excellency the Governor then spoke of the necessity of education, and the need for communal harmony. The function ended with the recitation of the national anthem of India. His Excellency the Governor was visibly moved as he embraced Syedi Mazoon Saheb and Abde-Ali bhaisaheb.

The Governor’s entourage left thereafter and lunch was served for the guests. There were a total of 155 thals, and everybody said that the food was delicious. All mumineen muminaat, elders and students then gained sharaf of qadambosi, and Mazoon Mola gave each one of them 4 real pearls for tashrif.

By the grace of Allah, and the doa mubarak of Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin tus, the function was completely successful. May Allah give long life till qiyamat to Aqamola tus, and in his saya, keep Mazoon-e-Dawat forever. Ameen.
